2005 Dodge Dakota enters the car market with the powerful standard 3.7-liter
Magnum V-6 engine with 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The new model once
again repeats the success of previous models with its full-size pickup power and
style plus lesser fuel cost and maneuverable driving performance. July 15, 2004
marks the company's announcement of the car's price.

Considered as the lowest-priced truck in the car market, manufacturer's suggested
retail price is ,180. Aside from the standard engines, it can also use any
of the following engine types: the 3.7-litre Magnum V-6, the 4.7-litre Magnum
V8 and the 4.7-litre High Output Magnum V-8. Available trim levels are ST, SLT
and Laramie in 2WD and 4WD.
Laramie comes standard with 4.7-litre Magnum V-8 engine with 230 horsepower and
290 lb-ft of torque. Also available is the 4.7-litre High Output Magnum V-8 with
250-plus horsepower and 300-plus lb.-ft. of torque.
Standard for SLT is the powerful 3.7-litre Magnum V-6 rated at 210 horsepower
and 235 lb.-ft. of torque. Optional engines include the 4.7-litre V-8 Magnum rated
at 230 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque and the 4.7-litre High Output Magnum
V-8 rated at 250-plus horsepower and 300-plus lb.-ft. of torque. With standard
16-inch wheels and an all-new six-speed Getrag manual transmission which was later
produced, ST comes with the powerful 3.7-litre Magnum V-6 producing 210 horsepower
and 235 lb.-ft. of torque. Optional is the 4.7-litre V-8 Magnum engine producing
230 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque.
