Dodge Dakota problem
Dashboard lights, engine misfire, exhaust system, body paint and car noise due
to engine and suspension are the common trouble spots for Dodge Dakota models.
Due to blown fuse the gauges and overhead console stopped working causing defects
in dashboard lights.
Engine misfire happens when many electrical devices are in use. Upshifts are
delayed when noise from the generator affects the transmission-governor pressure
sensor. For the exhaust system, breaking of the exhaust manifold studs on the
2.5-liter engine is the common defect. Body paint problems are common for 1997
models. Its radiant red metallic paint causes chipping problems due to the absence
of antichip primer. Noticeable vehicle noise may be caused by defect in engine
and cab isolators.
The timing chain in the engine produces a rattling noise requiring replacement
chain, sprockets and tensioner. Sleeves with no proper measurement can cause a
popping noise from the rear of the cab.
