Dodge Dakota recall
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showed several recalls that calls
for the company's attention. In 1997 some models have inadequate clearance between
fuel line and cab underbody while airbag becomes futile when ignition is shut
off. 1997-2000 recalls show inadequate clearance for some vehicles between left
front brake tube and power-steering hose. The same is true for the rear-axle vent
hose and brake hose. The driver-airbag system became disabled caused by the detached
sound-deadening material inside the steering wheel.

In 1998 antilock brake-system sensor wire are abraded at front wheels due to
prolonged contact with hose causing partial braking loss. Bolts used to attach
cab and core support to frame were improperly hardened causing cab to separate
from frame. 1999 recall shows non-compliance of the front-seatbelt retractor with
the requirements of the standard which may fail to protect occupants in the event
of a crash. 2000 reports linkage of fluid from fill tube using automatic transmission
even during normal temperature operation.
In 2001, some of the owner's manuals for the vehicle have missing instructions
for proper attachment of the child-restraint system's tether strap to the tether
anchorage. Improper tightened seatbelt anchor is also a problem which may not
provide the anticipated level of occupant restraint in a crash. 2003 recalls show
chafe clutch causing failure in the function of the horn, lights wipers and signals.
